Strictly Come Dancing 2011

Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1225: We've already mentioned X Factor, but what about Strictly Come Dancing?

Well, Harry Judd and Jason Donovan remain joint 2/1 favourites ahead of Chelsee Healey, who is a standout 13/2 with Sky Bet.

William Hill report plenty of interest in the next elimination market, with Audley Harrison a strong 8/11 favourite to get the boot with the firm.

"Although I would not tell him to his face, Audley has got two left feet and he is all but certain to get the boot on Saturday night," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

Ladbrokes and Bodog will give you 5/6, with 3/1 widely available about Lulu.

Hmmm. Len's not judging tonight but Jennifer Grey (!?) is. Why not someone who's appeared in the UK one? Is Alesha one too many?

Updated odds...

Winner:

Harry Judd 2/1 (Boylesports/Ladbrokes/Sky Bet)
Jason Donovan 2/1 (general)
Chelsee Healey 13/2 (Sky Bet)
Holly Valance 8/1 (Betfred/Boylesports/totesport)
Robbie Savage 10/1 (Betfred/Blue SQ/Boylesports/totesport/)
Russell Grant 20/1 (Betfred/Blue SQ/totesport)
Alex Jones 33/1 (Boylesports)
Anita Dobson 66/1 (Betfred/Boylesports/Paddy Power/totesport)
Lulu 125/1 (Boylesports)
Audley Harrison 200/1 (Blue SQ/Paddy Power)

Fifth Elimination:

Audley Harrison 5/6 (Blue SQ/Ladbrokes)
Lulu 3/1 (general)
Anita Dobson 7/1 (Boylesports/Ladbrokes)
Alex Jones 12/1 (Boylesports/Ladbrokes)
Russell Grant 20/1 (Blue SQ/Boylesports)
Robbie Savage 25/1 (Blue SQ/Boylesports)
Chelsee Healey 66/1 (general)
Holly Valance 66/1 (general)
Harry Judd 100/1 (general)
Jason Donovan 100/1 (general)

Week 6 Highest Scorer: (from William Hill)

Jason Donovan (rumba) 11/10
Chelsee Healey (Charleston) 3/1
Harry Judd (samba) 7/2
Holly Valance (jive) 8/1
Anita Dobson (Charleston) 20/1
Alex Jones (quickstep) 20/1
Robbie Savage (waltz) 20/1
Russell Grant (paso doble) 66/1
Lulu (tango) 66/1
Audley Harrison (Vienesse waltz) 100/1

For some reason, I think Chelsee is a bit of value in this market. I'll have a small dabble at the 3/1 on offer.

Series Match-bets ('to last longer' from William Hill)

Anita Dobson 7/4 vs. 2/5 Russell Grant
Robbie Savage 1/10 vs. 11/2 Lulu
Harry Judd 1/3 vs. 9/4 Chelsee Healey
Holly Valance 5/2 vs. 2/7 Jason Donovan

I'd peg this one as Audley Harrison vs. Lulu/Anita Dobson/Alex Jones with Audley going out. No bets on this though. Any odds movements should be telling.

There seems to be a fair amount of hate for Holly over at the DS forums.

Some success in predicting Chelsee to topscore (she got 36, with Holly 34 and Harry 33) and should have dabbled a bit more on that market but I should have known theyed save Audley.

Lulu's gone, Audley was the other one in the bottom two.

Still a bit of a shock that Lulu's gone. Audley to go next would be a near certainty, though I guess it depends on knowing in advance what dance a couple are going to attempt. The faster dances of Quickstep and Charleston favour the younger couples like Chelsee and Pasha, whereas the slower ballroom dances can work in more mature couples' favour. When I think of Jason's Cha cha cha in Week 1 I still think he's the favourite, though with the Free Dance in the final Harry Judd is still in there, and he's 17 years Jason's junior.

A quick thought: Holly Valance will be partnered by Brendan Cole on Saturday, due to Artem Chigvintsev's back injury, and though Artem is competent(he won it last year with Kara Tointon),I still think this might just be the fillip Holly needs to shake her out of her stupor.

We'll have to see what happens. The SCD audience are stubborn buggers and usually won't change their opinion unless told to or nudged into a certain direction.

This week's updated odds:

Winner:

Harry Judd 15/8 (Ladbrokes/Stan James)
Jason Donovan 11/4 (Bet365/Coral)
Chelsee Healey 10/3 (Sky Bet)
Holly Valance 10/1 (Boylesports/Sportingbet)
Robbie Savage 16/1 (Blue SQ/Ladbrokes)
Russell Grant 25/1 (Bet365/Boylesports)
Alex Jones 33/1 (Bet365/Boylesports/Sportingbet)
Anita Dobson 66/1 (general)
Audley Harrison 300/1 (Sportingbet)

Chelsee Healey is the big positive mover and if she wins, she'll become the fourth BBC employee in a row to win. Those backing Harry Judd and Jason Donovan from the start will be hoping that's not the case

Sixth Elimination:

Audley Harrison 4/6 (Ladbrokes/Sportingbet/Stan James)
Anita Dobson 5/1 (Boylesports/Ladbrokes)
Alex Jones 8/1 (Bet365/Blue SQ/Paddy Power/Sky Bet)
Russell Grant 12/1 (Bet365/Boylesports/Paddy Power/Sky Bet/William Hill)
Robbie Savage 16/1 (Boylesports/Sportingbet)
Holly Valance 20/1 (Blue SQ/Coral)
Jason Donovan 66/1 (general)
Chelsee Healey 66/1 (general)
Harry Judd 100/1 (Sky Bet)

Holly Valance to go tonight would be a shocker and show that this show is absolute shitty nonsense. Audley vs. Alex for me, and Audley should be leaving tonight.

Week 7 Highest Scorer: (from William Hill)

Harry Judd (Argentine tango) 15/8
Jason Donovan (Viennese waltz) 9/4
Chelsee Healey (foxtrot) 7/2
Holly Valance (rumba) 6/1
Anita Dobson (Argentine tango) 12/1
Alex Jones (jive) 16/1
Robbie Savage (American smooth) 20/1
Russell Grant (American smooth) 66/1
Audley Harrison (samba) 100/1

Holly Valance Week 7 Score: Over 32.5 points 5/6, Under 32.5 points 5/6

After last week's lucky guess, I have no opinion on either. I don't feel 'strong' on any market...not even Audley leaving this week!

After last week's lucky guess, I have no opinion on either. I don't feel 'strong' on any market...not even Audley leaving this week!
Audley will leave tonight, barring a miracle. He is out of his depth already and he knows it. As far as the top placings are concerned,it's really too close to call, with one point separating Harry and Aliona on 37,Chelsee and Pasha on 36,Jason and Kristina on 35,and Holly and Brendan on 34. I still think there's more to come from Holly,Harry and Chelsee are at their peak, and Jason looks more worn out every week, sad to say. He needs more time to himself to recover away from his family life for awhile,if he is to win this competition, which he is fully capable of.

In the end, it was Audley vs. Anita with Audley leaving.

I feel ultimately it's the dreadful cliche that it's still 'too close to call' as to who'll win.

I'm surprised Anita was in the bottom two. Women of a certain age are a bit jealous she can look like that at 62. If she made it to the free dance stage she could not compete against the younger dancers anyway;that's how this competition works.Speaking of which,Chelsee Healey looks more at home in this contest every week, though I just wish she would stop whining about her lack of sophistication which she over-exaggerates making us all a bit nervous.Compare her attitude to Russell Grant's,who though not in her class is loving every minute and manifestly so,which is why he's still here.Harry Judd has upped his game,Jason Donovan looks ill and a bit apprehensive of Kristina. Robbie Savage needs to believe he can win. Holly Valance is still too laid back, and I didn't particularly like Artem's choreography, which last night didn't show her off at her best.

Today's Bettingzone Reactions:

1325: Harry Judd has hardened as favourite for Strictly Come Dancing following the weekend shows. The McFly man is 7/4 favourite ahead of Jason Donovan, who is out to 3/1 with Coral.

Chelsee Healey has been popular in the betting over the past fortnight and is no bigger than 7/2 with Betfred and totesport while it's 10/1 and bigger the rest.

Audley Harrison was the victim of the latest elimination vote and William Hill bet 4/1 that he fights Tyson Fury by the end of 2012.

"Having vastly improved his footwork on the show, it is not out of the question for him to step into the ring once more," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.

What's going to happen at Wembley!? Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1525: Anita Dobson is a standout 5/4 chance with Betfred and sportingbet to be the next person eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

Alex Jones is next in the betting at a general 100/30 ahead of Russell Grant, a standout 6/1 shot with Sky Bet.

Robbie Savage is 15/2 in places but support has seen William Hill cut his price into 11/2, and their spokesman Rupert Adams said: "For the first time Robbie looks vulnerable and he will need all his fans to vote for him if he is to survive for another week."

In the outright market Harry Judd remains a very strong favourite at no bigger than 6/4, while Jason Donovan can be backed at 3/1.

Chelsee Healey is a 7/2 chance with bet365.

Do we know what dances the couples will be attempting? Obviously the younger couples would be better at the faster dances,Robbie Savage is better at ballroom;without this information it makes the betting even more uncertain.

The busy bees over at the Digital Spy forums are usually on the case as to what dances and songs they'll be dancing to, and it's where I get my information from.

This week's updated odds:

Winner:

Harry Judd 6/4 (Blue SQ/Boylesports//Sky Bet/Sportingbet)
Jason Donovan 3/1 (Betfred/Coral/Ladbrokes/totesport)
Chelsee Healey 7/2 (Betfred/Sky Bet/totesport)
Holly Valance 12/1 (Sportingbet)
Russell Grant 25/1 (general)
Robbie Savage 16/1 (Bet365/Betfred/Blue SQ)
Alex Jones 50/1 (Paddy Power)
Anita Dobson 100/1 (Paddy Power/Sky Bet/Sportingbet)

Harry Judd firms up ever so slightly. Is it a case of Occam's Razor with Harry destined to win or will it be a close shave!?

Seventh Elimination:

Anita Dobson 5/4 (Betfred/Sportingbet/Stan James)
Alex Jones 10/3 (William Hill)
Russell Grant 6/1 (Sky Bet)
Robbie Savage 15/2 (Stan James)
Holly Valance 16/1 (Blue SQ/Coral)
Chelsee Healey 33/1 (general)
Jason Donovan 50/1 (Sportingbet)
Harry Judd 50/1 (Paddy Power/Sky Bet/Sportingbet/Stan James)

For some strange reason, I'm expecting Anita to 'bounce back' and not be in the bottom two. The opinion over on Digital Spy though is she's very much a goner. Between the top three/four, everyone else is 'cannon fodder'.

Who'll be eliminated? I'm not betting on it but I think it may be one of Alex, Robbie or Russell.

We still haven't had a 'big shock elimination' yet. I'd be concerned about Holly's 'lack of popularity' (Bruno and Craig had a go at her at some charity do for 'underperforming' and not living up to her ante-post hype. I'd like to see those two bitches have a go at dancing then!).

Week 8 Highest Scorer: (from William Hill)

Jason Donovan (jive) 11/10
Harry Judd (salsa) 3/1
Chelsee Healey (samba) 3/1
Holly Valance (quickstep) 8/1
Anita Dobson (samba) 16/1
Robbie Savage (salsa) 16/1
Alex Jones (Argentine tango) 25/1
Russell Grant (jive) 50/1

Robbie Savage Week 8 Score: Over 28.5 points 4/6, Under 28.5 points 11/10

Lord knows if they'll overmark Robbie this week. I think the 11/10 may be some value as Holly's scored 30 and Chelsee's scored 29 when doing the salsa...is Robbie really going to score more than either of them!? I don't think so!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictly_Come_Dancing_(series_9)

Jason's being bet on almost though he can't lose this week. Unless he makes a mistake it almost looks like a 'stick-on'. I'll have a dabble but not too much on Jason topping the leaderboard this week.

I would say "Not bad at all.". Chelsee's got 'The Journey' and she's a BBC employee to boot (why I didn't go for her but went for Alex Jones, I don't know!) but some would say since the Halloween show that she's far too self-deprecating and cries too much that some see as fake.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...rictlys-Chelsee-Healeys-tears-over-dress.html

Four into three doesn't go though but it's anyone's guess who'll be the shock elimination between Chelsee, Harry, Holly and Jason even if the odds do suggest that Holly would lose out if that's the final four.

The bounce of the Samba should suit Chelsee and though I'm still tipping Jason Donovan to win the whole thing I think Chelsee's odds are good today..I'd be surprised if Alex Jones can capture the spirit of the Argentine tango, though with Russell Grant dancing the Jive he's not safe;I'd say the same thing about Anita's Samba but she's been amazing so far with more energy than a woman half her age..

Bleurgh. Alex and Chelsee joint topscore with 35. Robbie scored 26.

Russell's finally gone and Holly was in the bottom two.

I cannae believe I didn't bet on Russell to go or Robbie to get 28 points or less. :angry

Russell was poor tonight. In the first weeks he did at least attempt to do the steps. Alex top was a surprise,Chelsee less so. Jason would have been given top of the leader board had he not messed up his last kick flick..

Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1135: More reality TV now, this time in the shape of Strictly Come Dancing and William Hill report all of the money this week has been for Anita Dobson to get the boot.

Dobson is odds-on at 4/5 to be the next eliminated with the firm although there is some 10/11 around with Ladbrokes and sportingbet.

"Last week's result was a huge shock as we could have seen Russell sticking around for quite a while, however, we envisage this week's outcome will be a lot more straight forward," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.

"Almost 80% of all our Strictly elimination bets this week have suggested it could be the end for the EastEnder."

Robbie Savage and Holly Valance are next in the elimination market at 11/2, with Alex Jones available at 6/1 with bet365.
In the outright market,

Harry Judd remains a very strong favourite with Stan James' 6/4 comfortably the best quote around.

Jason Donovan, the pre-live show favourite, is an 11/4 chance generally ahead of Chelsee Healey, who at 100/30 is priced up as the only other likely winner.

Russell Grant a huge shock to go last week..that's the laugh of the month..if the bookmakers watch the contestants' feet for a moment that will give you a guide. No,the shock,if there is one, is the wilting of Holly Valance. As for Anita Dobson,I wouldn't write her off just yet..Chelsee Healey will suffer among female voters with the news of her teenage boob job..I'm still backing Jason Donovan to win the whole thing, as I'm not sure look-alike Bobby Kennedy's English grandson Harry Judd has the force of personality to get more votes from the British voting public, who tend to be more of a certain age..
