The 27th season of Super League is about to begin with a re - match from last year's Grand Final. St Helens grabbed their 3rd title in a row in that game and begin this year again taking on Catalans. The Dragons are not the only French side in the comp this year as Toulouse Olympique won promotion last year.

Wigan and Warrington have new coaches and Leeds have a new half back pairing of Blake Austin and Aiden Sezer.

Hull KR have strengthened and could go one better than last year's semi final appearance.

Castleford have the ex Hull FC coach Lee Radford at the helm and have signed Jake Mamo, Bureta Faraimo, Mahe Fonua, Alex Sutcliffe, George Lawler and Kenny Edwards.

Hull FC themselves continue to threaten and will breakthrough soon. Not sure with them though as they could just as easily be mid - table.

Salford, Huddersfield and Wakefield will all make their presence felt and a play off spot for any of these would not shock.
 
Leeds v Warrington begin channel 4's coverage of the sport at 12pm today. Another first is Toulouse's debut Super League fixture against Huddersfield at 7pm. The opening round ends with Hull FC's trip to Wakefield on Sunday.

From the early games, St Helens, Wigan and Salford were all pretty comfortable winners.
 
Pretty solid start from channel 4 and the game had everything. Leeds went down to 12 men early, with new recruit James Bentley being sent off and there were also a couple of sinbin's. Warrington came back from 10 points down and won it with a late try. Conditions were not great and so the quality of play was affected, but certainly a match that you could not take your eyes off.
 
I know Hull got beat but i thought they played well and had a lot of the pressure the other night .

Just the errors coming at bad times really. Pretty sure they will beat some decent teams, especially in East Hull.
 
Toulouse started their Super League life in bright fashion for 20 minutes, but faded badly in the end, going down 42 - 14. Hull FC completed the opening weekend, by beating Wakefield 16 - 12.
 
6 games of the regular season to go, so long overdue an update. This is an opportune moment to do so as Slick's Salford have just shocked the champions St Helens with a 44-12 drubbing. Saints still remain 4 points clear at the top, with Wigan 2nd. Salford currently fill the last play - off spot ( 6th ) and based on today and recent showings, could be a dark horse for the Grand Final.

At the bottom of the table Toulouse are bottom, but are only 2 points off Wakefield in 11th. The big story though is Warrington in 10th and only 4 points off the drop.
 
Play - Off's have just begun tonight with Catalans taking on Leeds over in France (loser eliminated). All Rugby League is going ahead tomorrow, so the 2nd Eliminator Between Huddersfield and Salford, will be played as scheduled. The winners of this weekend's games will progress to the Semi Finals, where the teams that finished 1st (St Helens) and 2nd (Wigan) will be waiting.
 
Leeds through after a pretty grubby match. Huddersfield and Salford kicks off today at 1pm, with coverage on Both Sky and Channel 4.
 
First Semi Final about to kick off, with Leeds visiting Wigan. The other semi final is tomorrow at the Totally Wicked Stadium with the reigning champions St Helens taking on Salford. As with last week the Saturday came is covered on both Channel 4 and Sky.
 
Leeds pull off the upset at Wigan and now await the winners of Saints and Salford.
 
The 25th Grand Final kicks off tonight at 6pm and it features the 2 most dominant teams of the Super League era in the form of St Helens and Leeds. At the start of the campaign, this would have been considered a possible final, but after about 10 games, Leeds looked more like relegation candidates and indeed at one point, only Toulouse were beneath them in the table.

Leeds hit top form late in the season and qualified for the play - off's with a late win over Castleford. (in a winner takes all game) They followed this up by winning away games at Catalans and then Wigan.

Saints however were top of the league for the majority of the season and despite plenty of injuries and suspensions, they quite easily topped the league and then accounted for Salford in last week's Semi - Final.

Both teams have guys out, but Leeds arguably have more influential players missing.

Saints have been champions for 3 years in a row, but Leeds are 4 from 4 in this fixture against Saints.

Saints are a general 2's on and are around -6 on the handicap. If Saints click they could make a mockery of this, but Leeds can definitely keep it close.

Bets are as usual for me looking at the bigger odds, so First Tryscorer and Man of the Match is the order of the day -

Pretty comfortable 12 point win for St Helens in the end and that give Saints the title for a historic 4th time in a row. No luck with the bets, though Matty Lees did score the 1st try and must have been a contender for the man of the match.
