It was much ado about nothing in the end – 4 wins and 6 places from 23 selections. There was a small but very frustrating loss on the day. It would have been a markedly different day if Dandarell who traded at 1.33 at one stage had managed to hold on in the 6.50. Cracking Choice beaten by a neck in the final race didn’t help either.

Will be a quieter looking day tomorrow with two decent cards at Sandown and Doncaster.

Eldest has football at 10 and missus is away so will need to post these earlier. Xilerator ran a big race for me last week at a big 16/1 SP price when pipped by a neck at Thirsk. The opening 10/1 looks generous. The horse doesn’t win much but is in the places quite a bit and I’d be playing a larger win and place on this outside of it being a system selection.

If pressed for a bigger priced each way section today I’d go with Teochris in the 17.10 under normal circumstances. Bolgers debutants have an excellent record and the horse has a decent draw. The jockey however Rory Cleary is the very definition of journeyman – less than 4% strike rate although it improves to 10% for Bolger rides. As system picks I'm following somewhat blindly but as form (or otherwise) picks only Snakes and Ladders makes much appeal.

Well my first max stakes bet (Anticipated) won but the drift before the off
had me worried. Karaka Jack wasn’t close to the leader but finished a decent
second at a big price. Not sure how the 17.30 handicap hurdle made it into
the flat system but I’d have probably claimed a winner so I’ll claim the two
losers. The runs weren’t terrible generally – mediocre.
