2.45 Lingfield - Swiss Pride 9/1 (BetFred,Hills,Lads, Coral)
Topweight SWISS PRIDE comes into this on the back of a nice pipe opener (5th) last time out and i think he should be spot on for this now after blowing the cobwebs away. And i think it can only help his chances by running here at Leafy where he seems to do so well , having won 6 times and placed 4 from 17 runs over todays CD (in total he has 11 wins/places from 19 outings at the course). Draw doesnt look the handiest i have to admit but he knows his way round here like the back of his hoof so hopefully that shouldnt be too troublesome. Trainer Roger Teal sends just this one out today and hes always seemed to know the time of day to me , so he must think he's got a chance and he's been amongst the winners of late with a 16.1% strike rate over the past month. Harry Davies takes a valuable 3lb of his back which can only aid the horses cause and he has a win from his two rides on the horse to date. Been riding okay of late showing a 23% strike rate in the past fortnight and seems to do fairly well at Lingfield , this season he has a 19.2% SR at the course. Open looking handicap in all honesty but i'm hoping that Swiss Pride can put his useful course form to good use at a decent price.
2.52 Beverley - Havana By The Sea 9/4 (Generally)
Quite a difficult race to weigh up and probably shouldnt be having a go at it , but HAVANA BY THE SEA does catch my eye and i thought the opening 9/4 was a decent enough price to have a pop. In her last couple of races she looks to have come on alot from her debut run , and it might have helped that Paul Hanagan partnered her in those two outings. Was a solid 5th of 19 on penultimate run , beaten 2 3/4 lengths in a decent looking class 2 sales race at the Ebor Meeting at York. Then last time out beat Oahu by a length over todays CD , shes the only CD winner in the race , should have plenty more improvement in her i think so a good showing wouldnt come as a surprise. As i said Paul Hanagan in the plate and from his two rides he has a 5th and a win , and he has a 17% strike rate when riding at Beverley since 2010. The trainer and jockey have teamed up once in the past three weeks resulting in a win. Trainer Craig Lidster seems to have his string in fine order at the moment showing a 31% strike rate over the past 3 weeks and it catches my eye that he sends just this one out today. As i said a difficult race to weight up but i'm more than happy to have Havana By The Sea on side.
