Well I certainly won't be backing it. Hard to see how it could have ran worse to be honest. I'm not saying it won't make a decent horse in time but it ain't gonna win until it learns a bit and that run today is going to teach it nothing other than what a racecourse is like. Broke badly, then got a couple of bumps which wouldn't have done its demeanor any good but then pulled its head off and never settled. Jumped around like one of those horses on a fairground ride. Unsurprisingly (after expending all that energy) never got into the race and faded like a damp squib. I love backing young horses based on their early runs but I wouldn't put back this one next time out with anyone's money. Jockey did the right thing with it (as you would expect from him). Did just enough to show it what it was there for without ever getting serious with it but was fighting a losing battle. Couple more runs and it may give us a better idea of its quality. Would like to see it break better and maybe get a crack of the whip to show it who's in charge. Entered in a decent race in two and a half weeks but it will have to turn out again before that to stand any chance whatsoever as it's likely to be up against a few horses who have proven that they know what a racetrack is for and this one hasn't.
