View attachment 84 The BBC embargo has been broken with the publication of a story on the Telegraph’s website confirming Englebert Humperdinck as the UK’s representative for Baku.

The article also reports that the song will be written and produced by the team behind Adele, Mary J Blige and Lana Del Rey.

Last year, Humperdinck toured Europe with concerts in Belgium, Romania, Russia, Israel and the Netherlands.

Hats off to the BBC if they can make him look and sound ‘current’.

You don't mean the 75 year old who had a hit with Please Release Me,or could it possibly be the German Engelbert Humperdinck who wrote Hansel and Gretel and has been cryopreserved to be resuscitated especially for the contest. Really,is this March or April 1st..a precedent has been set,and next year Petula Clark is going to throw her hat into the ring..

It's here finally, and it's not the disaster I thought,to be fair. Though it's an eminently forgettable ballad in 3/4 time you've got to admire the chutzpah and the class of this guy,and he might pick up some mid-range marks..by the way my plasterer's coming round tonight and I've run out of filler..

Going first in the running order, I doubt he'll achieve anything special.

No,but it suits him,and it will give him time to have his nap before the voting starts.

Thats bad, it actually starts off quite well and I was expecting some sort of Johnny Cash type 'Hurt' ballad but it never gets out of first gear....just drones on and on.
His voice is good though and I should imagine he'll get a few votes for that but it's not a winner.

Christ , he looks terrible .. :unsure Is he ill ?
The song , awful ..

The song was penned in tribute to his true yet unconsummated love,Toledo widow Antonia, whose husband died tragically in a Falangist enfilade, but who remained faithful to this day honouring his memory;as Engelbert nostalgically reminisces on what might have been, she will be tuning in as she lights the Calor gas stove and stoops over her paella pan.

Actually that might work quite well on the night if they have a montage of Engelbert's career down the years..

i don't know what to make of it. the song is ok, but requires better production. it's quite old fashioned but sometimes that makes things stand out in eurovision. should do all right with jury, but i'm thinking it's too middle of the road.

gav, you say this is going 1st. has the running order already been decided for the big 5? if so what is it?

Might I suggest the UK jury this year be composed of Mike Read,Will Young,Lionel Blair,Duffy and Baz Bambigoye..

Serves him right, he should have bought a German car instead.

Yes it's fucking dreadful but isn't that what this entire thing is about? Songs that only retards would listen to more than once?
It's awful. Repetitive, whining, droning.

Awful.

I bet his wife will be pleased to learn that while he's singing his love song, he's picturing some 75 year old woman bending over her paella pan.

Coincidentally Patrick Moore has empathised with the above anecdote as he confessed to Engelbert a few days ago. He will not, however,be watching the contest later this month,as he has been asked by the European Space Agency to undertake preliminary research into Ganymede in preparation for the 2022 mission. You can view the heartbreaking story here:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ermans-70-years-Nazi-bomb-killed-fianc-e.html
