Am I a lunatic or is there some value in these?

CURACAO to make the Quarter Final @ 501.0 skybet
HAITAI to make the Quarter Final @ 501.0 skybet
JORDAN to make the Quarter Final @ 201.0 skybet

I was surprisingly allowed a fiver on each of these . Never know could get lucky. They will probably chop the prices now after I took them.

Not my game either Jezza, but with 8 third place finishers getting out their groups, then any of those could make the last 32. Whether any of them could then win 2 knockout games is more doubtful, but you could at least end up with a nice cash out opportunity.

I'm not about much these days but I'll be popping in for the World Cup.

I've got a few thoughts and bets in mind. The only bet i've placed s far is Scotland to win their group @ 12/1

It sounds and most likely is a daft bet, so it's only a small one, but i do think the price is a little generous at the same time.
My thoughts are that 3 qualifying out of groups of 4 (farcical really), could lead to some of the favourites not starting with their strongest 11 in the opening couple of games.
Under this new format the finalists have to play 8 games instead of the usual 7 and it will almost certainly lead to more rotation.

I also like what i'm seeing about Scotland in terms of togetherness as a squad too. They go there on a high from that incredible game against Denmark and the tartan army are travelling in their thousands.
Defensively they have a bit of work to do but they do have goal scorers and experienced players in the team. They wont lack for effort.

Like Scotland, Sweden go there with a bit of momentum from the qualifiers, under new management. I'm not on yet but 5/1 for them to win their group is another bet i'll be having.

Outright i'm edging towards Portugal @ 10/1, who have such a brilliant squad and Brazil under Ancelotti @ 8/1

Hey Punt, good to see you my friend and I hope you are doing well. I also don't post that much usually, just for Eurovision. However I'm going to join you in here for the World Cup I think and will start another couple of threads. Perhaps one for pre tournament outright bets, one for group stage matches and one for the knockout phase.

Loving the Scotland to win their group bet. A longshot but it would be brilliant if it came in. I've actually taken Morocco to win that group @ 6/1 but firmly on Scotland to qualify (for the first time ever) into the knockout phase. You are right about the Tartan Army travelling in their thousands. I also suspect they will pick up a huge amount of support from other countries once their teams get knocked out.

I also took Portugal on the outrights a month or two ago @ 12/1. Couple of other outright bets I will detail in the threads which I will start tonight.

Nice. I think if Scotland make it to the quarters theres a good chance theres an England v Scotland knockout match along the way (if not the quarter final itself). I'm not 100% as im no expert on the draw possibilities but I think thats accurate. Imagine that game if it happens!

It would surely attract one of the biggest audiences of the WC. Probably a record number of plastic chairs thrown too!
