Boxing

Me too Slick , gutted

Cheers Punt , yeah real shame was one of the best on the card , although tbh theyre all good in their own way. I think now that the Saudis are running the show and with the money on offer i dont think anyone will be avoiding anyone for a while .. I wanted to see AJ / Fury back in the day not particularly fussed now gotta be honest

for anyone interested the live pre lims for the Last Crescendo card (Beterbiev vs Bivol) they're on DAZN You Tube

Well three bouts down and all of em ive called wrong :embarassed no complaints , all been good fights so far and as i said in all the write ups they were all , for me anyway , 50/50 fights and i picked the wrong side

Well that was a night to forget , selection wise .. not one right .. but i enjoyed the boxing and thats the main thing. Bivol deserved the win gotta say and as i said in the write ups the bouts were proper 50/50 .. i just chose the wrong 50 :lol

Monday 24th February - Junto Nakatani vs David Cuellar

Well one of the top two Japanese boxers Junto Nakatani (29 Fights - 29 Wins (22 KOs)) puts his WBC belt on the line when he meets the unbeaten Mexican David Cuellar (28 Fights - 28 Wins (18 KOs)). On paper it looks a decent contest , and as a Mexican i expect Cuellar to come here to fight. But someones '0' has gotta go and to be honest im firmly expecting it to be Cuellars'. Cuellar has never fought outside of his native Mexico , and looking through his record this is a big step up in class as hes never fought someone of Nakatani's calibre imo. He has a height and reach advantage over Nakatani and is four years younger than the Japanese fighter but for me thats where the plus's end .. Nakatani has a lot more experience of fighting higher quality opponents and i think from what ive seen hes the better boxer , and being a southpaw could well bring its own problems for Cuellar , altho im not sure how hes dealt with them in the past or if indeed hes even fought any. Nakatani is patient and calculating and waits until the opportunity presents itself before he unleashes his bombs , hes also adept at laying traps and enticing his opponents in .. and when he smells blood its usually game over tbh , as i say Cuellar has never fought someone on Nakatanis level before and whilst i expect him to bring it i think hes gonna ultimately fall short .. i see Nakatani being too experienced and too good for the Mexican.

Saturday 1st March - Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach

Cant get enthused about this one at all if im being honest , for me Tank Davis (30 Fights - 30 Wins (28 KOs)) should be fighting higher quality opponents than Roach (27 Fights - 25 Wins (10 KOs) - 1 Loss - 1 Draw) , no disrespect to Roach who is a decent operator but i honestly cant see him posing any sort of threat to Davis here. Hes going up in weight and he doesnt have the kind of power to make Davis respect him , hes a skilful enough boxer but against someone like Davis he'll need the power and for me , from what ive seen he doesnt have it. Davis has muted retiring after a couple more fights , so i would like to see him against some proper opposition who'll take him out of his comfort zone before (if) he does , but i cant see that with Roach unfortunatley. I think Roach will do well for a few rounds before Davis figures him out and stops him.
