Odds Betfred

Not bad odds for Chile and Uruguay are they, can see Brazil getting a result but I wouldn't touch them at that price over 90 mins the way they have been playing.
Uruguay might be worth a shout though even without Suarez.

Holland look a good price too as I was half expecting them to be odds on.
USA too could be worth a shout, Belgium haven't looked anything special whilst the good ole US of A have shown a lot of fighting spirit and have really impressed me truth be known, this game will be a lot tighter than those odds suggest.

9-1 on Algeria looks tempting. Germany have come of 3 games in the hot and humid north and could be tired. Algeria have a couple of pacey wingers who could their full back problems. They also of course have beaten them before in 1982.

lol, I think the teams might have changed since then Colbro.

So i think the following
28 June 2014

Brazil goes further
Colombia goes further
29 June 2014
Netherlands goes further
France goes further
30 June 2014
France goes further
Germany goes further
01 July 2014
Argentina definitely goes further
Belgium goes further (but here i would hesitate a bit, the USA's goalkeeper is really strong, i actually i think the both goalkeepers are strong)

Not been too impressed by Brazil so far, scraped past Croatia with the help of some dodgy refereeing decisions, couldn't break down Mexico, and Cameroon were a shambles for much of the tournament, but still had Brazil looking shaky for half an hour or so. I've got a feeling Chile are going to dump them out of the tournament this afternoon.

A bit unfair to make France play on Sunday and then again on Monday don't you think?

The penalty shoot-out puts far too much pressure on an individual player. The golden goal was better..

I've told you before, stick to your own shit and stay away from football you stupid cunt. The golden goal was designed to create a more open extra time and make teams go for it. What it did was exactly the opposite and make teams frightened to death to attack in case they conceded.

Stick to the shit that you think you know something about - when you stray into football you just make yourself look (more of) a cunt.

That's possible, but a footballer who misses a penalty has to live with that stigma for the rest of his life,as in the case of Roberto Baggio whose team lost the World Cup Final of 1994 because of it.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26931123

saw this rubbish last night and resisted posting as I'd had a drink . English players have not suffered , I found this on the tnet

Which seven English players have missed in World Cup penalty shoot outs?

Chris Waddle David Batty Frank Lampard Jamie Carragher Paul Ince Steven Gerrard Stuart Pearce

which one has suffered?

and what about this - traumatised players

It's not quite the same as letting the whole nation down because of one penalty miss which loses you the FIFA World Cup Trophy. This is hardly news; alternatives have been debated for years such as taking into consideration the number of corners you managed to obtain over 90 minutes, deducting points for fouls, yellow cards and the like, which to my mind is a better option as it emphasizes the team effort rather than the individual.

why did I get involved ?

steve uk says "The penalty shoot-out puts far too much pressure on an individual player. The golden goal was better.. "

The golden goal is better - then he changes his point of view to "alternatives" that do not make sense in a game where the whole point is scoring MORE goals than the opposition.

I'm going down the local to watch the game and I've backed Netherlands .

Please , please, pretty please disagree with me steve. That is too optimistic ,
I suppose you've backed Netherlands then changed your mind to the draw , then Mexico and eventually with your logic you've backed Croatia as they should have gone through on the corner count.

If I may gently return the discussion tot he Round of 16...

I'm on Holland to beat Mexico, DNB. I reckon Holland probably have the firepower, but Mexico held Brazil to a draw without too much difficulty...

Also had a bet on Hernandes to be Mexico's top scorer, so I'm okay of it's Peralta, dos Santos or Hernandes. :crossfingers

Good luck TC.

I need an over and/or one of them to be leading at half time for a profit here

Probably two Van Persie Hatricks and Mexico to win 7-6 would be my best result. Easy.

Holland got out of jail once again. I thought they were poor, Robbens corners were poor, RVP poor but yet they scrape through.

Dodgy pen as well although I thought they should have had one earlier.

I could do with Costa Rica winning 2-1 mind :hope

Managed to fluke a profit on the fame with Holland coming thru' late. Three Mexico scorers finished on one goal apiece. I was on three of them, and if I understand the dead heat rules properly I lost about the the same on them as I made with Holland winning :sleep

I'm on a draw for the late game, on the grounds I can see it being cagy. Small interest bet.

So instead of losing your country the world cup with a shit penalty, you could lose

The dead heat rule should be that you lose 2/3 of your stake on each of them and the other 1/3 of your stake is paid out as a winner. So in this case, a 2/1 shot would get you your money back- anything under, a loss - anything over 2/1 a profit.

Thanks ODM. That's sort of how I figured it (although five got a goal each, not the three I said :embarassed) but I got the principle right. A small loss on the market, then. :cry
