I'd like to have started with a decent size bet (by my small standards) in the Championship but there are no odds for the market in mind just yet. But there is one that i'm really keen on, that's coming soon. Assuming the odds represent my idea of value.
The Championship odds for relegation are up and the bet i was looking for is there.
Bournemouth to be relegated. I find it unbelievable that bookies have them 4th favourites for promotion.
Howe has gone, so has Fraser, Ake and so have both club captain Simon Francis and vice captain Andrew Surman.
Brilliant young goalkeeper and fans player of the season Aaron Ramsdale has agreed terms with Sheffield Utd in an 18.5M deal, too.
They may well have a season or two in the championship but this is a totally different Bournemouth team now, one that's much more likely to go down again than regain Premier League status imo.
They are a small club even for the Championship. I must have a dozen match day programmes in the attic of regular games against Hereford in the bottom two leagues.
I shouldn't give them too hard a time as they deserve much credit for their achievements over the past 5 or 6 yrs but for me the journey is over and they face uncertain times.
I wouldn't be surprised if owner Maxim Demin starts draining the money from the club rather than trying to invest now. And maybe even pull some daft stunt by employing Harry Redknapp to try and save them after Christmas.
Bristol City! 4 seasons ago i said City would become a PL team within 3 seasons, so yeah, i was wrong (only had small bets on them then), but i'm sticking with them again this season.
Manager Lee Johnson who was in charge of City during those 4 seasons was sacked last month and they are now under new management. Investment continues on and off the pitch (owner Stephen Landsdowne has a net worth of about £1.9B).
It's the price that's a bit more special this year. Last few seasons they have been 16 & 20/1 to win it but you can get 18/1 just for promotion with Skybet this season. Most are going around 13/2 to 8/1 though. I cant see 18/1 lasting too long.
I've had a small punt on Boro for promotion too. I like that old fcuker Warnock, he's been a decent manager over the years and has already promoted teams to the top flight on four occasions. I wouldnt be surprised if he made it a fifth and bought some good times to the Boro fans.
Most other firms are going around half the 10/1 offered by Paddy P's.
