Only Football & Horses

Thanks Sean

Some really interesting games in the the Conference North this weekend but not too many that i'd want to bet on.
I'd say Scunthorpe are going to win again but at such short odds it makes it uninteresting.
Hereford @ 2.38, Kings Lynn @ 3.90 and Buxton @ 5.00 were all tempters but i'm not taking any of them.

I'm sticking with backing against Farsley. It's not the greatest value as Darlington haven't won in their last four but i still feel they are worth the risk here, @ 2.10
I might be wrong but if you need any confirmation that Farsley are poor, fast forward to 55 seconds and check their goalie out...

Good luck Punt

What do you reckon to the new England manager ? and Uniteds apparent interest in Rubin Amorim ?

I hate it. I hate the fact that our National team has gone for another foreign manager. I dont care how good they are.
We've lost our pride, it feels more like a franchise than a National team. The Scots, Welsh and rest of the world would always remind us that if we ever won anything, it was with a foreign manager.
And where would his priority lie if it was England and Germany in a World cup Final?

I don't know about Amorim, he was interviewed by Liverpool before we went with Slot, i think i read his CL form is excellent and he's done a fantastic job toppling Porto and Benfica.
Hearing Teg Haag had been sacked Monday morning, was not the news i'd wanted to hear :cry

:lol @ that attempted punch by the goalie FFS .. I see Lynn are doing well , won the other night as well.

I see where you're coming from with the wanting an English manager .. i was like that when Erickson took over but im at the stage that i just want us to win something (anything !) now lol .. Ive said for years that theres no pride anymore , you look back to the 80s and before and what it meant to the players to pull on the England shirt .. there doesnt seem to be any of that anymore its just another game or seems like it to me. Trouble is what manager could we have or who would want the job ? its like a poisoned chalice being our manager tbh , damned if you do well and damned if you dont , you cant seem to win .. to this day i still wish Brian Clough had got the England job.

Yeah i would love to have seen Cloughie as England manager too!

Won 2-0. Farsley really are poor. Kings Lynn should batter them next week. Anything above 1.40 will be value.

I'm on one mule today. A C&D winner (won the race last year), hoping he proves to be some E.W. value..

Carlisle 14:18
FINGALS HILL @ 14/1

Good luck

I see Lynn and Scunny both slipped up and dropped points yesterday . I forgot to mention that i used to work in a woodyard back in the early - mid 90s and that my boss was the chairman of Kings Lynn back then , why or how i'll never know he werent into football he was into bowls

I've heard he's a bit of a character, Sean. Cant remember if it was in a positive or negative way though lol.

I've just taken 1.80 about Kings Lynn tonight. It might not be a battering but i do expect KL to come out on top, maybe only just though.
It doesn't feel like the banker it was earlier but i've rolled Saturdays winnings over on it.

Farsley Celtic face a midweek trip to Norfolk to face high-flying King’s Lynn Town at The Walks.

The Celts head into the fixture off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Darlington in the first of five fixtures to be held at Buxton’s Tarmac Silverlands Stadium. Pav Singh’s side put in a valiant effort against the Quakers in challenging circumstances and will come into this midweek clash encouraged by the spirit shown from the squad.

They face their former boss in Adam Lakeland who has King’s Lynn sitting strongly in third in the National League North after a strong start to the season. Farsley will go into the fixture as underdogs with the long trip not playing to their advantage, but Pav Singh still has a strong belief in his squad.

Singh spoke about his anticipation for the fixture, saying: “Today, we embark on an early departure from The Citadel as we travel to King’s Lynn, where we’ll face our former manager Adam Lakeland and his side.

“I’ve always held admiration for Lakey, he’s a proven leader at this level and has rightly earned his place working full-time in the game. This match presents a challenge, but we’re approaching it with optimism and carrying some key positives from our recent performance against Darlington.”

Speaking on the availability of his squad for the clash, Singh said: “While a few players will return to the lineup, we’re still feeling the strain of limited numbers.

DJ, Dylan, and Darren are all managing knocks, yet Darren’s commitment is unwavering as he continues to push through. The embargo’s delay has prevented us from adding four key players we had lined up, which sets us back in terms of depth.

“Nevertheless, we’ll work with what we have, and the squad’s resilience remains strong.”

Singh also paid tribute to the staff and squad for their commitment, saying: “A heartfelt thank you goes out to Sokii from analysis and Megan for standing steadfast in the dugout with me last Saturday. As challenging as times are, they have shown what loyalty and dedication look like. It’s in tough moments like these that you see who truly stands with you.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

“Times like this call for us to dig deep and stay grounded in our core principles. I can’t lie, hearing the song ‘When the Going Gets Tough’ play on the car radio recently felt like a reminder to keep moving forward.

“This period has been a reflective one for me, reminding me of the importance of staying adaptable with our methods and clear with our goals, even as challenges arise. My commitment to our values and vision remains firm; we won’t allow setbacks to define us or divert us from what we’re striving for.”

Pav also added: “Now more than ever, it’s essential to maintain our focus and not let external distractions pull us off course. We’re here to achieve something significant, not only as a team but for each player’s individual journey in football. The road may demand adaptation, but my faith in this group is unwavering. Each one of you is here with purpose, and my support is resolute as we push forward together.

“It’s about much more than what happens on the pitch. It’s about growth, resilience, and building a team that embodies unity and ambition. I’m proud of the strides we’re making, both in our play and in our development as a team and individuals.”

TEAM NEWS

Numerous players will face late fitness tests ahead of tonight’s fixture with Singh looking to field as strong a squad as possible.

KING’S LYNN TOWN

The Linnets are one of the favourites for automatic promotion in this year’s National League North and they’re well on course to achieve that this season as they sit 3rd in the table, two points behind 2nd and 3rd placed Chorley and Scunthorpe United. Lakeland’s side did suffer a 2-1 defeat to Chorley at the weekend; that being their first loss in the league since the start of September.

LAST TIME OUT

The two sides couldn’t be separated last season, both fixtures ending in goalless draws as King’s Lynn and Farsley managed to avoid the drop.

Chorley @ 2.2 & Chester @ 2.55 also look like a bit of value tonight.

Thats the new one Punt , took over around 2016 i think , yeah ive heard hes a bit of a character as well

Linnets dont seem to be doing too well at half time , had a decko and two nil down , hopefully a decent second half can see them pull it out of the bag for yer

Yeah it was. Not sure where their season is going to go with the way a few contract situations are though. It could be like last season when Klopp announced his departure early and then the wheels came off. Trent has pretty much already signed for Madrid.

My picks have been rotten lately but i'm having another go today. Placed last night, some of the prices have changed this morning...

Afternoon Punt - Hoping you can help me , are there any bookies that will accept bets on teams in leagues like the Southern League Division One Central ie teams like Real Bedford ?

Afternoon Sean. Bet365 might do, I'm not 100% sure but they would be the first place I'd look. I only have access to Unibet and I know they don't.
Are Real Bedford a good bet then?
