The Manchester City thread

you really mean it's been a good International break for Utd.

Joking apart this break could have killed our season, it's about time they kicked them into touch and played them over the summer in June.
It not only stops the fcuking and farting about with the Prem but also gives us something to watch during the dull months waiting for the season to start again.

It'd be like a WC or Euro's every year.

Why did City let Aguero go to Argentina, he came off injured after his 5 last week.

I hate International football Slick, because it ruins the weekend for betting and prediction purposes.

Saying that it could be worse, we could have a fully fit Wayne Rooney:lol

I don't think City have a say in the matter Howson, International call ups are strictly regulated unfortunately even for friendlies.
I know what you're saying though, Pellers should have done what Fergie used to do with Giggs when he used to make any excuse to get him out of playing for Wales.

Even saying that, the Argies are a proud nation and love playing for their country, probably more so than playing for their club.

It's all irrelevant fella's, now the main man is here.

I've got my Jurgen Klopp starter pack...

"I'M TELLING YA...IT'S GONNA BE OUR FUCKING YEAR LAD"

Think he'll be any good though? I've got to admit i've not been this optimistic for years......so watch him fail miserably.

Its hard to say to be honest Punt, hes already said it will take 4 years to win the league. Liverpool is exactly the same as Utd was when Fergie left - a massive rebuilding job, and as were seeing at Utd it takes time.

Hes never managed outside of Germany, so hes no experience of Prem league, and its such a tough league to manage in.

He will certainly be entertaining thats for sure.

If you dont finish top 4 this year, then I can see Countinho going, and you wont get the players you need without champs league football.

I've said it quite a few times now and I'll say it again, Klopp and Liverpool are made for each other.
He loves the limelight, has a good sense of humour and the scousers will love him, his management skills aren't bad either lol.

He's not going to turn Liverpool into world beaters over night but given time I reckon he'll come good, and he has the personality to get that time, nobody will be looking for the first excuse to ditch him like they did with Hodgson and Rodgers, he's a likeable guy and I'd say his first 3 years are set in stone.

United fans know this more than most hence the reason they wanted Rodgers at the helm for as long as possible, he was their Moyes.

To be fair to Rodgers though, had Liverpool not sold his best players who knows what he could have achieved, it's a problem most of the top teams don't have, his downfall was the players and money he spent to replace them, if he didn't have to replace them the story could have been soooo different.

I have to agree with all that. Especially re Coutinho. I've seen him linked with Barca, Real and City this past week. On the other hand if we are successful both Klopp and the little magician will help attract some of the best players in the world.

Not sure about this part Slick, he doesn't know how to defend and the players that left knew this. He lost the respect of a lot of the team/squad way before he was sacked. And you cant have a short bloke who'd accomplished next to nothing in charge of Liverpool. Gerrard even patted him on the head after getting subbed in one game!
I wish him well but i'd of won the league with the team that he had in the 13/14 season.

I've a feeling that Sturridge will be the first player to be sold.

Do you think so?
I reckon another season with Suarez would have ran you close again, sterling would have been a year wiser and the whole Liverpool attack wouldn't have solely depended on Sturridge (If fit)

I won't go overboard about Rodgers because I don't like the fella and I mentioned that somewhere on this forum when he first went to Liverpool, my main reason then was because it was on the back of Swansea but Martinez set the foundations for that club imo.
But considering he got so close in 2014, the last thing the powers that be should be doing is selling their best player.
I know Suarez was looking for offskies but so was United best player this year in De Gea, difference is United realised his worth and wrangled a way out whilst Liverpool took the big bucks.

Suppose what I'm trying to say is that Liverpool have become a selling club whereas to be at the top you need to keep your best players.

Klopp will build his team around Benteke and if Christian responds to him Liverpool will do well

I am so jealous ....

Yes, we'd definitely become a selling club, the two main reasons being they didn't want to play under Rodgers (just ask Agger and Sterling) and also because we needed to find £120M for the cost of the new stand. Players will less likely want to move with Klopp in charge imo.

I believe Klopp wanted to sign Benteke before Colbro. He was also interested in Firmino for Dortmund too. Makes you wonder how long Klopp had been lined up for.

Only way they keep theyre best players, is finishing top 4. Suarez was never staying, as soon as Barca came knocking, it was goodbye.

I suppose we can only wait and see, but id be suprised if he doesnt improve results in the short term.

That's what I'm saying Howson, When Real came knocking for De Gea it was goodbye but he's still @ United and signed a new contract to boot.

To become a top team you CANNOT sell your best players no matter who comes knocking.

By the way Liverpool finished 2nd when they sold Suarez.

My thoughts too Punter

I believe Klopp will get the best out of him.

I am so jealous

As you do too:beer

At the time though I didn't mind Liverpool winning it to try and get the most titles records back because I'm sick of you cnuts keep harping on about it.
But when Liverpool fans started to print T-shirts and flags about being Champs b4 the season was over I did think ehhhhm.

I'm pretty sure he wanted to sign Colbro before Benteke tell the truth Punt:wink
