12.40 Lingfield - Murhib 16/1 (365)
Like the look of MURHIB in this , who was 10th on his re appearance last time out after 313 days off , that will hopefully have blown any cobwebs away and he'll be fit and ready to roll today .. Has never been unplaced over todays CD , winning once and placing twice from his three outings. Overall at Leafy he has two wins and four places to his name from 9 runs so seems to do well round here. Looks to me to be well enough drawn and one thing that caught my eye is that hes won off higher than todays mark , added to his liking for the CD i think that may well bode well. Trainer Lydia Richards is in good form lately with a 50% strike rate over the past month along with a profit of +£11.75 and the fact that she sends only this one to the meeting could well be a hint that should be taken. Jockey Rhys Clutterbuck gets the ride and its his first time on the horse , been amongst the winners lately with a 25% strike rate over the past forntight and overall he has a 14.4% strike rate at Leafy along with a healthy enough profit of +£23.41. Given the horses liking for the CD , the trainer and jockeys recent form i think that the 16s on offer is too big not to take advantage of.
2.03 Musselburgh - Doyen Breed 15/2 (Lads,Coral) - Captain Cattistock 8/1 (365)
A couple in this class 2 handicap chase catch my eye , first one is last years winner CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK who arrives here in decent enough form , was a solid third on re appearance at Cheltenham and followed it up with a 4th at the same course last time out , that was a grade 3 so will probably appreciate this drop in class. Like i said won this race last year , so one from one over CD. Has won off higher than todays mark which caught my eye , and it didnt go un noticed that Liam Harrison who has two wins and two places (from 6 rides aboard him) and rode him to that victory last term in this is in the plate again on whats his sole ride of the day. Been riding well with a 22% strike rate in the last three weeks , and has a 67% strike rate when riding here at Musselburgh so has to be respected when he rides here i think. Trainer Fergal O'Brien also here for just this one , and he wouldnt be making the long schlepp from Gloucester if he didnt think his boy stood a chance of a repeat performance imho , has a 25% strike rate over the past month and has more than a respectable 21.4% strike rate overall when sending his runners over the border to this course. Trainer and jockey have a 20% strike rate when pooling their talents over the past three weeks. Does look a better renewal than last years but i think he can go well at a nice price. The other one i like the look of is DOYEN BREED , was 7th of 9 last time out over hurdles , but that run can be forgiven as he'd been off for 271 days prior to that outing and i think he'll come on for that and strip fitter here. Ran well last season and came second in a couple of decent looking grade two races so this should hold no fears for him. Has placed on only run at the course. Trainer knows how to ready one for this race having won it back in 2018 and has a 50% strike rate here this season and a profit of +£9.20 to boot. JJ Burke in the hot seat for the first time and hes a jockey i rate and i personally think hes under used and under rated. I think now Doyen Breed has that initial spin under his saddle better can be expected here today and i can see him going close if he's at his best.
2.55 Sandown - Coquelicot 11/1 (Coral)
Open looking class one handicap hurdle where plenty look to hold chances but im going to side with the consistent COQUELICOT whose figure since coming back from a lay off are - 4,1,1,2 ,, that first effort was on the flat but since then cant be faulted really i dont think. Has only been unplaced once in her nine hurdles races to date , three wins , three seconds and two thirds so shes generally there or thereabouts come the business end and at the 11/1 on offer with Corals i think shes worth a go to go close today. She'd have to step up on what shes achieved to date but thats entirely possible and shes in the best of hands to do just that i think with Anthony Honeyball. Shes his only runner of the meeting today , hasnt been in the best of form lately but he can ready one for the big occasion so im not too bothered about that tbh. And the fact he sends just this one could be a pointer in itself. Jockey Rex Dingle also at the meeting for just this one ride , and he has 5 wins and 4 places from 11 rides aboard the mare so obviously gets on with the horse and has a 20% strike rate over the past forntight. Like i said a few could take this but given her recent form i think she can go close here.
