4.40 Brighton - Mister X 8/1 (365)
A few look as though they could take a hand in this one but im siding with the only course winner in the field MISTER X , on paper i'd say a couple at least look better propositions but the fact that the selection is the only runner to have won here certainly helps his chances imho. Ran a stinker last time at Newmarket , that was his first run after being gelded so hopefully better can be expected this afternoon. Wears cheekpieces for the first time today and i couldnt help noticing that he is now 2lb below his last winning mark , it also came to my attention that hes dropping in class , has been running in class 4 and class 5's but now drops to a class 6 , which he hasnt run in since November of last year ... which he won. Trainer Stuart Williams brings just this one here today and he knows the time of day , has a 15% strike rate in the last couple of weeks , and is 100% when sending them here this season , overall he has a 20.6% strike rate here along with a profit of +£13.95 , so for me anything he sends here warrants respect. Jockey Luke Catton also here for just this one , good value for his 5lb claim , and has a 17% strike rate in the last fortnight , and like the trainer has a 100% strike rate here this term , and overall he has an eyecatching 41.7% strike rate plus a tasty +£26.20 profit , so certainly knows his way round Brighton , and when trainer and jockey have teamed up over the last three weeks they come away with a 33% strike rate. At the price i think hes well worth a punt.
4.55 Redcar - Kodebreaker 4/1 (365)
Think KODEBREAKER can go well in this one , beaten by the re opposing Premiership by 1/2 length last time out , i think he can turn the tables here this afternoon off the same mark. Has been in decent form lately , holding his form well , has only been out of the first three once in his last outings. One from one here at Redcar , and has won and placed four times from nine runs. Tom Eaves has been riding the horse lately but Jason Hart on board this afternoon , which is a plus in my book , one from one when hes ridden the horse. Trainer Michael Herrington has just this one at the meeting , not been in the best of form to be honest but i wouldnt scrub the horse purely because of that , luck has to change sometime after all. Definatley in with a shout.
