Saturday 3rd June - Clarissa Shields v Hanna Gabriels

Tasty looking bout between Clarissa Shields (13 Fights - 13 Wins (2 KOs)) and Hanna Gabriels (24 Fights - 21 Wins (12 KOs) - 2 Losses - 1 Draw) , and i think its gonna go the way of their first fight back in 2018 when Shields beat Gabriels by UD. Since the first fight their respective careers have taken totally different paths , Shields has kept busy and active and fought some of the best about , winning them all , whilst Gabriels has only had three fights since that 2018 bout , admittedly she has won them all but her ring inactivity is off putting if im being honest , and her opponents were mediocre at best imho , whereas Shields has fought the best out there and cleaned up the division .. I can only see a repeat of their first fight here , unless Gabriels can pull something spectacular out of the bag like a knockout , and whilst shes more than capable of stopping opponents (she did drop Shields in their first encounter , the only opponent to do so) i just think that Shields has to much ring smarts and skill about her to allow herself to get caught. As i say i can only see this going one way and that a Shields win.

Sunny Edwards v Andres Campos
Sunny Edwards (19 Fights - 19 Wins (4 KOs)) defends his IBF Flyweight title against Chilean Andres Campos (15 Fights - 15 Wins (4 KOs)) on the 10th June and i'm quite looking forward to it as i think Edwards is a canny boxer , and should have enough about him to put his opponent away and retain the belt. Im not sure what Campos has done to deserve this pop at the title to be honest as he has no big names on his resume as far as i can see , and though he holds the WBO Latino Flyweight title i personally would of thought there was more deserving cases for a shot at the title , but hey ho it is what it is and here we are .. Both come into this undefeated and Edwards has a far better resume and makes his fourth title defence in this bout , cant say i know too much about Campos other than he looks a proficient enough fighter (as his record suggests) who'll come to win but i think he could be taking on more than he cope with with Edwards , as for me hes a lot better boxer. Last time he accounted for the decent Felix Alvarado and if putting in the same sort of performance here i say he retains the belt. Always a bit of a quandry when you dont know too much about a fighter tbh , but from what ive seen of Campos , Edwards takes this.

Sunny Edwards To Win

Josh Taylor v Teofimo Lopez

After the cancellation of the rematch with Catterall , Taylor (19 Fights - 19 Wins (13 KOs)) is now going to fight Teofimo Lopez (19 Fights - 18 Wins 13 KOs - 1 Loss) for Taylors WBO Light Welterweight Title. Taylor hasnt fought since beating Jack Catterall by split decision , a verdict that alot of people including me disagreed with , and the aforementioned rematch went up in smoke after Taylor was injured. Its a fascinating match up to be honest as the pair are equally matched in the fact that they've both had 19 fights , both have 13 KOs and both seem to have had their share of problems. Since becoming the undisputed 140lb champion Taylor seems to have gone off the boil , suffered injuries and put in a lack lustre below par effort in his defence of his titles .. and only just scraped through . Whilst Lopez surprised the boxing world by beating Vasyl Lomachenko by UD back in 2020 , he returned to the ring just over a year later and promptly lost his belts to George Kambosis Jr , in all fairness he had suffered Covid beforehand so the bout had to be put back but he didnt look the same fighter. He moved upto 140lb , and in 2022 he had two fights , winning both .. stopping Pedro Campa in the first and more recently Sandor Martin by SD .. despite winning those fights Lopez just didnt look the same boxer imho , he seems to have lost the snappiness in his punches and his overall ring demeanor seems to have altered as well .. Taylor hasnt fought since beating Catterall back in February '22. So both have had problems in the lead up to this , including personal issues , so i think it all depends on which fighters turn up as to what we get to see in the ring. Taylor has both a height and reach advantage and for me is the better boxer , and hes changed trainer which i think could possibly help , if he's on top form then he wins , but thats not a given tbh , Lopez before the Kambosis Jr loss would have given Taylor a run for his money but in his last two bouts , as i've said , he hasnt looked the same , and for me i think he'll struggle against the talented Tartan Tornado if he's not on song. Difficult one to call but i'm gonna side with the Scot and say Taylor retains his belt but hes going to have to start well and use his jab to good effect and dictate the pace of the fight.

Saturday 17th June -

Regis Prograis v Danielito Zorrilla
This bout looks quite a decent match up to my eyes (Prograis was due to meet Liam Paro , who had to withdraw because of an injury so Zorrilla stepped in) , Regis Prograis (29 Fights - 28 Wins (24 KOs) - 1 Loss) defends his WBC Light Weltweight title for the first time against the useful Puerto Rican Danielito Zorrilla (18 Fights - 17 Wins (13 KOs) - 1 Loss). Prograis stopped the highly rated Jose Zepeda back in November of last year to walk away with the title , the only loss on his resume came when he came to these shores and lost by majority decision to Josh Taylor .. Prograis totally dominated Zepeda , dismantling him piece by piece before stopping him , and that win made him a two time champion at 140lbs. Zorrilla stopped Aristedes Quintero in his last bout , and before that suffered his first defeat at the hands of Arnold Barboza Jr by a unanimous decision. To be honest i havent seen much of Zorrilla but from what ive seen he is a decent fighter , but i think Prograis is better if im being honest. But hes trained by Miguel Cotto and hes confident that he can take Prograis out of his comfort zone and walk away with the belt , gotta respect a legend like Cotto but as his trainer he would be bigging his man up wouldnt he ?! .. Zorrilla has a height and reach advantage here which i can see him trying to utilise but Prograis knows all the tricks and i cant see that bothering him , as a southpaw Prograis could be equally problematic for Zorrila and for me he is the harder hitter. Defensively Prograis is better as well and as he tends to pick and choose his punches , throwing them with intent and power rather than flurries and volume , although he can throw a few when he thinks the end is in sight. Overall i can see a close match early on but i think as the fight goes on Prograis' experience and skills will come to the fore and he'll wear Zorrilla down. Should be a good fight to watch , and i see Prograis retaining the title.

Regis Prograis To Win

Sunday June 18th -

Tim Tszyu v Carlos Ocampo
This one should be a real banger , and i really cant see it going the distance , so i think its one to watch ! Unbeaten Aussie Tim Tszyu (22 Fights - 22 Wins (16 KOs)) pus his WBO Interim Junior Middleweight title on the line when he meets Mexican Carlos Ocampo (36 Fights - 34 Wins (22 KOs) - 2 Losses) at the Gold Coast Convention Centre , Tszyu comes into this after a dominant display against Tony Harrison , stopping him in the 9th winning the interim belt in the process , whilst Ocampo is arriving on the back of a decision loss to Sebastian Fundora back in October of 2022. Both can punch theres no doubt about that but i think Tszyu has the edge in that department as he seems to choose his punches wisely and throws them with intent , he has a great uppercut and his shots to the body should take their toll on his opponent i think. Ocampo has a slight height and reach advantage but not enough to make a huge difference to the outcome i dont think , he will come to fight and wont be initmidated by the atmosphere or his opponent but i have noticed that he has done most of his boxing at home in Mexico , only having four fights outside of his home country , two of which he has lost , first one against Errol Spence Jr (no shame in that one) and then as ive already said last time by Sebastian Fundora , again no shame in a loss to the Towering Inferno , but looking through his resume it seems to me that when he steps it up to the top tier he falls just short , and i think theres a distinct possibilty that hes gonna come up short here again against Tszyu. He wont mind a war , which is what i think will happen from the first bell .. and whilst he'll hold his own for a while i can see Tszyu breaking him down round by round , i honestly dont think that this one will go the distance and i see Tim Tszyu retaining his belt.

Saturday 1st July - Jared Anderson v Zhan Kossobutskiy

A heavyweight bout that has all the hallmarks of an explosive encounter , Jared Anderson (14 Fights - 14 Wins (14 KOs) is touted by many as a top contender and the way hes despatched his opposition so far they could well be right !However Zhan Kossobutskiy (19 Fights - 19 Wins (18 KOs) is no slouch when it comes to the power punching department either so i think we're in for a few fireworks where someone is gonna lose their coveted '0' .. Neither have gone past six rounds to date , so it'll be interesting to see if it gets that far , and how they'll cope stamina wise if they do. This will be the first time Kossobutskiy has fought outside of Europe , so it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to the hostile crowd , as Anderson will be fighting in his hometown of Toledo , so im assuming that the local supporters will be out in force and urging their lad on. Resume wise Anderson has the edge i think , has fought better opposition , especially latterly , last time he retired the unbeaten George Arias within three rounds , and before that stopped the durable Jerry Forrest in the second. Power aside i think Kossobutskiy may struggle against Anderson who , from what ive seen of both fighters , looks to be the better boxer , he certainly took the previously unbeaten Arias to school imho , i'll be very surprised if this one goes the distance , and as we know one punch in a heavyweight bout can change the entire fight , and im taking Anderson to continue his upward curve in the heavyweight ranks , i just think hes gonna be too much for his opponent , and with the locals egging him on , im taking him to stop his opponent.

Jared Anderson To Win .. By Stoppage

Anderson v Kossobutsky OFF due to Kossobutsky having visa issues , Anderson now gonna face Charles Martin

Altho i follow (and trained in) boxing my first love will always be Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) which i done for years and this was my favourite fighter Ramon 'The Diamond' Dekkers .. took it to the Thais and beat them on the their home turf which was pretty much un heard of .. he was later honoured by the Thai Royal Family , thats how much the Thais took him to their hearts

Can't say I've ever heard of him Sean but watching that vid he looks a tough cookie.
Wouldn't like to fcuk about with him:lol

His brother Desmond was more my level.

:lol I dunno reckon Des could give yer a run for yer money Slick (or could of done) .. seen him live a few times in my dim and distant (and me sis was an original skinhead so i got all her old records)

Yeah Ramon Dekkers was one of the best Thai fighters ive ever seen , the Thais nicknamed him the turbine from hell , for obvious reasons , he punches and kicks were thrown with intent every time , and he could hit you from any angle , shame he died young (43) .. his record was phenomenal 224 fights , 186 wins (95 K0s) , 36 Losses and 2 Draws

Wow that is a tough sport, can't say I've really watched Muay Thai properly before but that is intense, makes MMA look like WWF lol
How fit do you have to be to do Muay Thai!, For as long as I can remember I struggled to touch my toes but always considered myself a good footballer, doubt I get away with that in Muay Thai without my head being detached from my shoulders:lol

Muay Thai is definatley a hard art to train in and learn Slick . Its like anything really you get fitter as you go along , i had done boxing , Judo , and Karate and Kung Fu before i started Muay Thai and i still felt it knackering and intense , the bag work f*cked you before you started lol , three minutes punching , one minute off , three minutes kicking , one minute off , three minutes knees and elbows , one minute off , three minutes of everything combined ... and thats all out no picking shots , you had to toughen your shins as you kick with your shins rather than your instep/ball of your foot as in alot of other martial arts , first time i sparred and caught someones elbow with my shin the pain was f*ckin insane lol (with karate and Kung Fu it was non contact or we shin pads) , you have to toughen your arms and legs / shins cos of the strikes .. the elbows and knees are lethal , i remember my teacher telling me that in Thailand alot of people had lost their teeth , or even died from the elbows which if they connect with the opponent , theyre going to sleep no doubt about it. Cos i trained in that i started Kyokushinkai Karate which is a knockdown style (Dolph Lundgren trained and fought in this style) and kinda compliments it .

Saturday 22nd July - George Kambosos Jr v Maxi Hughes

Not a bad match up tbh , and and interest for us Brits is always good i reckon ! George Kombosos Jr (22 Fights - 20 Wins (10 KOs) - 2 Losses) is entering the fray on the back of two losses for his WBA (Super) , IBF , WBO and The Ring Lightweight titles to Devin Haney , Unanimous Decision both times , but Haneys one of the best out there at the moment so theres no great shame in those losses and before that he pretty much shocked the boxing world by beating Teofimo Lopez who had won the titles from the great Lomachenko. Hughes (33 Fights - 26 Wins (5 KOs) - 5 Losses - 2 Draws) is on a bit of a roll winning his last seven fights , latterly beating Kid Galahad back in September of last year , and whilst hes as game as they come and deserves this i think he may well struggle against Kombosos Jr. Kombosos Jr has a reach , height and power advantage and he knows how to use them and hes been fighting better opposition than Hughes has , and acquitting himself well it has to be said , and after the two losses to Haney i think hes gonna wanna redeem himself and get back on track here , and though Hughes is as tough as they come i dont think he has enough to upset Kombsoos Jr (As a Brit i would like to see it though) , so im taking Kombosos Jr to come through this test to go onto fight for the IBF Lightweight Title.

George Kombosos Jr To Win

Tuesday 25th July - Stephen Fulton v Naoya Inoue

This should be a corking fight imho and fair play to both fighters for taking it on , Inoue (24 Fights - 24 Wins (21 KOs)) for moving up in weight and wanting to take on the best in his new division and especially to Fulton (21 Fights - 21 Wins (8 KOs)) who holds the WBO and WBC titles and goes to Japan to take on the Monster , to me that says alot about the fighter himself , if only more of the champions were like these pair ! .. These are two elite boxers who are meeting up whilst in their primes , we (as boxing fans) should appreciate that fact i think. Anyways , as i said this one should be a good fight , and its a hard one to weigh up , you have Stephen Fulton who is a well schooled and very well rounded boxer , against Inoue , a solid boxer who has tremendous power .. thing is does that power remain as he's gone up , again , in weight ? .. Hes going to be up against a naturally bigger and heavier fighter but in all honesty its not that much of a rise in weight and in all probability that devastating power is going to be there , unfortunatley for Fulton. I think Fulton is far and away the best fighter that Inoue has had to face in his career to date , and if he had more power then i would probably be going for a Fulton win due to his technical profiency , but whilst his boxing skills are unquestionable the question has to be can he take the power of Inoue ? .. And the honest answer to that is I dont know , he has been up against some decent opposition who can punch , Brandon Figueroa for instance who out threw him when they met but lost by majority decision , he took those punches fine but Inoue , i think , hits harder than Figueroa and looks to be a bit of an anomoly power wise tbh. This is why its difficult to weigh up lol if Fulton can take the power then i think theres a good chance that he outboxes Inoue and comes away with a decision victory but if he cant then Inoue wins by a stoppage. I like both boxers and as i said at the start hats off to both for taking the fight , i'd be favouring Fulton as well if Inoue had to travel to the States for the fight , as i think it'll be interesting to see him fight away from Japan and see how he copes out of comfort zone , but it is what it is and as such i think i slightly favour Inoue , but it is tight , i can see Fulton on top in the early round but i think the heavy shots may well take an effect late on and can see a late stoppage for Inoue (although a decision for Fulton wouldnt surprise me either if Inoue doesnt put him away)

Saturday 29th July - Terence Crawford v Errol Spence Jr

Mouth watering clash between two of the pound for pound best who are putting their unbeaten records on the line for the undisputed Welterweight championship and I can't wait , if this lives upto expectations then it should be a proper tear up thats worthy of the 'mega fight' title thats being bandied about.
Both Crawford (38 Fights - 38 Wins (29 KOs)) and Spence Jr (28 Fights - 28 Wins (22 KOs)) are coming into this off decent last time out wins , Spence beat the tough Cuban Yordenis Ugas (April this year) by TKO in the 10th round whilst Crawford beat former title holder Shawn Porter (also by a TKO in the tenth) back in November of last year. Between them they've fought some of the best there is .. Crawford - Kell Brook , Amir Khan , Felix Diaz , Egidijus Kavaliauskas .. Spence Jr - Danny Garcia , Mikey Garcia , Shawn Porter , Lamont Peterson .. and so the list goes on , and they've beaten them all , just leaves these two to now sort it out to see whose the best of the best.
This is a really difficult fight to call imho , they're both technically very sound but i would say that Crawford has more tools at his disposal that could cause problems for Spence , and he's a switch hitter effortlessly moving between orthodox and southpaw which can prove troublesome for his opponents , he's a 'thinking' boxer , very methodical , he seems to look for weakenesses and chinks in the armour of his opponents and then try to exploit them and open them up , he has a slight reach advantage and i can see him taking advantage of that to maybe stay on the outside and use his counter punching skills to good effect . Spence Jr probably has the better jab and has a size advantage which he will probably try to utilise , he's versatile so he could try and damage Crawford from the inside or the outside , and he'll try to land the left hook when he can. He's also imo a little better with his defensive tactics.
This one could go either way it really could , and i am really finding it hard to try and pick a winner if i'm honest , but i have to choose .. so i'll go with Crawford but its bloody close

Terence Crawford To Win
