The Manchester City thread

And I suppose David Silva does fcuk all too.
Funny how he also fails to mention Yaya disappearing for two season's on the bounce for the African nations cup.
City's only mistake in midfield this year was getting rid of De Jong and replacing him with Garcia who isn't half the player he was brought into replace.

You're right though ODM, it is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever read.

Tell you the truth Punt I wouldn't mind him, I think he'd be ideal for City although a lot of people would disagree.
but it looks like Pellegrini is lined up for the post.

The official website looks to be in meltdown but after waiting an age here's the official statement...

“It is with regret that Manchester City Football Club announces that Roberto Mancini has been relieved of his duties as Manchester City Manager.
“This has been a difficult decision for the owner, Chairman and Board to make and it is the outcome of a planned end of season review process that has been brought forward in light of recent speculation and out of respect for Roberto and his extensive contributions to the Football Club.
“Despite everyone’s best efforts, the Club has failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year, with the exception of qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. This, combined with an identified need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the Club, has meant that the decision has been taken to find a new manager for the 2013/14 season and beyond.
“Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: ‘Roberto’s record speaks for itself and he has the respect and gratitude of Sheikh Mansour, myself and the Board for all of his hard work and commitment over the last three and a half years. He has clearly also secured the love and respect of our fans. He has done as he promised and delivered silverware and success, breaking the Club’s 35-year trophy drought and securing the title in 2012. I would like to personally and publicly thank him for his dedication to the progress that he has overseen and for his support and continued friendship.’
“Assistant Manager Brian Kidd will take interim responsibility for the remaining two games of the season and the post-season tour to the United States.”

Rafa would do it for next to nothing, his mrs and daughter have refused to move from their home in Liverpool before.

Pellegrini would be a very risky appointment imo, no Prem experience for starters.

Aye I was going to mention him just living round the corner, he now lives in Southport doesn't he?

Punt what's that picture cropper software called again? I thought I had it installed but can't seem to find it.

Neither had Sir Alex - he didn't do bad

Cheers m8, I'll look for it in a sec, it used to be in my bottom toolbar but it's gone awol.

What odds Mourinhio?

Now that would be interesting - but not going to happen. He's going to Chelsea and that Pelli geyser is going to City.

Made me laugh this morning on Talksport, that cockhead Lou Macari spouting about how he couldn't understand why City should appoint him and he couldn't understand why he was so highly rated because he'd never won anything.

Not like United's new manager then?:lol

I fucking despise Macari with every bone in my body.

Ditton not Macari but plenty of nob heads and rag's alike.

Mancini's biggest problem seemed to be his man management skill's, every time a City player get's subbed they come off shaking their head and just walking straight past him as he ignores them.
You don't see that happening too often with slur Alex.

It's not just that but you get the feeling the players don't respect him due to him not being approachable, I know a manager has to distance himself from the players but you at least have to be all singing from the same hymn sheet.
It's a pity really as given time and the chance to bring in his own set of players without interference from above as like what happened over the summer when none of the players brought in were from his original choosing, he would have done well.

That's not so say I think he under achieved in anyway because what he has done so far will never be forgotten.

At least if Pellegrini is brought in he can at least speak Spanish and English which should make communicating with the team a lot easier.

Liverpool are in for Kolo Toure according to the media over the past 24 hrs. Does he still have a good game in him?

Last time I watched him he looked a bit out of shape

lol.

Tell the truth Punt, Kolo when he has played for us this (last) season has done well, he may have put on a pound or two but he can still shift and always give's 100%.
Wherever he goes he won't let anybody down.

BBC are now reporting City have agreed a fee for Jesus, we could have done with him a few yrs back.

Manchester City agree fee for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22757172

Looks like it's a done deal then, I've seen reports of City going after him for a few days now but if you believe the papers there's nobody City isn't after.

Navas looks a good player and we are crying out for a winger but I thought Spain had trouble getting him to the last world cup In South Africa due to anxiety problems and panic attacks, saying that he should be at home with City because they have been giving me them for as long as I care to remember.

Fernandinho now comes through the door at what seems like a lot of cash for a 28 yr old with only 5 Braziilian caps.

Saying that I can honestly say I know nothing about him, anybody fill me in so to speak?

I meant to ask about him the other day, I know nothing about him either.
Any Brazilian signing has to be a good one though, unless its Lucas Lieva, of course :hissyfit

Brazilians are never cheap, its cos the blades get snagged up by the hairs

Apparently it's the 'Barcelona Model' Colbro, ex Barcelona directors and Ceo Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano have been working at City for about 6 months now and are trying to run the club as they did with Barcelona.
i.e they bring in the players they think they need and the Manager is now a 'coach' aka Pellegrini, his job is to get the players performing on the pitch rather than worrying about the comings and goings.

It's what Pellegrini is probably used too anyhow in serie A.

Whether it works or not we'll soon find out.
